PROM 2026

She is just as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. One prom down, one to go! We can't wait to celebrate the end of junior year and excited to begin her senior year! As of now Lexi is 99% sure she will be a Rebel in the Fall of 2027. Wherever she goes, my heart will go too. *Cute story: Lexi's shoes were killing her during prom photos. We had about 20 minutes to spare before she had to get to school to get on the bus for destination prom (it was at the Perot Museum) so I called Jason and asked him to pull some heels out of my closet for her to look at/try on. When we arrived at home he had them all laid out on the counter for her to try on. It was such a sweet Dad thing that I will always remember!
Well, it's been a minute. Over the 10+ years I have been sad on occasion that I did not keep up with blogging. I blame it on social media. Facebook and Instagram have acted as my family diary and photo/memory safekeeping.  Today we had our first "senior" moment with Lexi. So, after much digging of which email address I used for this blog, I finally found it and we are officially back on the blog!  Lexi had COMP Cheer tryouts this week for her SENIOR year. She started COMP when we moved from Prince of Peace Christian School to Prestonwood Christian Academy for her 7th grade year. COMP is highly competitive, demanding, and outstanding. I will blog more on COMP later. This will be Lexi's 6th year on COMP. The youngest grade on the team is 7th so Lexi will have been on the team all the years that are allowed. Lexi will be the only senior on the team who has been on for all 6 years. This is quite the accomplishment.  Today was the last day of tryouts and Lexi was gifted th...

me and luke

He was about two weeks in this photo!!  Next time I see him I will try to capture the same image!! Happy birthday, sweet boy!!

luke is ONE!

A year ago yesterday we met our 5th nephew and this past Sunday we celebrated his #1 with family and friends.  I'm sad I didn't take a pic of Luke and I in the mirror, but I love the photos we have of him and our family!!

my new favorite

This could be my new favorite picture of Lexi EVER.  We are off for another snow day (that makes 3.5 days from the past two weeks).  The snow was beautiful this morning.  Lexi was delighted of the views from the windows so before brushing her hair or coffee for me, we bundled up and headed outside.  I snapped a few pictures of her throwing snow and doing snow angels, but this picture just spoke to me.  I can feel her brilliant spirit and pure heart.  This picture allows me to envision what Lexi will look like at 19.  I pray her soul is just as spirited and pure as it is today.

daddy/daughter dance

I have some catching up to do on the blog, but I wanted to write tonight while my feelings and emotions are raw... About a month ago we received an email about the daddy/daughter dance tonight.  Jason attached the flyer and forwarded it to me saying, "I have to work."  I frowned and moved on.  I didn't think much about it until the other day.  I had an "a-ha" moment and asked Jason if we could ask his dad so Lexi wouldn't miss out on the ball.  Jason called Kevin the next day and I received a text from Jason right after saying, "My dad would be happy to take Lexi."  I was delighted and Lexi was on cloud 9 when I told her Paw Paw wanted to take her to the ball (side note...we didn't tell Lexi about the ball because we didn't think she was going to be able to attend since Jason was out of town). The next day Jason left work early and met us at the mall for a little ball dress shopping.  Lexi danced around the dressing room in about 8 diff...
