Well, it's been a minute. Over the 10+ years I have been sad on occasion that I did not keep up with blogging. I blame it on social media. Facebook and Instagram have acted as my family diary and photo/memory safekeeping.

Today we had our first "senior" moment with Lexi. So, after much digging of which email address I used for this blog, I finally found it and we are officially back on the blog!

Lexi had COMP Cheer tryouts this week for her SENIOR year. She started COMP when we moved from Prince of Peace Christian School to Prestonwood Christian Academy for her 7th grade year. COMP is highly competitive, demanding, and outstanding. I will blog more on COMP later.

This will be Lexi's 6th year on COMP. The youngest grade on the team is 7th so Lexi will have been on the team all the years that are allowed. Lexi will be the only senior on the team who has been on for all 6 years. This is quite the accomplishment.

Today was the last day of tryouts and Lexi was gifted the "COMP Lucky Blush" by a current graduating senior. This is a BIG deal in PCA COMP. This exact compact of blush (is it still called a compact??) has been in the team for years. Only one senior is gifted the compact from a previous senior. The tradition (COMP has many cool traditions) is before every competition, the handler of the blush walks around the "I believe" circle (more on that later too) and puts blush on each girl and gives them a quick verbal boost of encouragement for good luck. The compact has every girl's name on it who has had the blush and the years in which they have won NCA (again, more to come on that too).

Today marks a pretty significant first and a last. Fitting for our girl.

kindergarten boxcar parade

Well, everyone was healthy until Lexi got the flu and I got pneumonia.  Needless to say, it's been a rough week...BUT, we are better again and for the most part back to normal.  Jason, Lexi and I all worked together on this and we think it turned out great!  All the boxcars were unique and wonderful!  The parade was wonderful...it should have been televised!!

daddy/daughter dance

I have some catching up to do on the blog, but I wanted to write tonight while my feelings and emotions are raw... About a month ago we received an email about the daddy/daughter dance tonight.  Jason attached the flyer and forwarded it to me saying, "I have to work."  I frowned and moved on.  I didn't think much about it until the other day.  I had an "a-ha" moment and asked Jason if we could ask his dad so Lexi wouldn't miss out on the ball.  Jason called Kevin the next day and I received a text from Jason right after saying, "My dad would be happy to take Lexi."  I was delighted and Lexi was on cloud 9 when I told her Paw Paw wanted to take her to the ball (side note...we didn't tell Lexi about the ball because we didn't think she was going to be able to attend since Jason was out of town). The next day Jason left work early and met us at the mall for a little ball dress shopping.  Lexi danced around the dressing room in about 8 diff...
