Happy 2012!

Oh where to begin.  This NYE was the best one I've had in a long time.  Kim, Jeff and the boys arrived in Dallas on the 30th.  We had a low key evening at home to prepare for the celebration of beginning a new year.  On the 31st Jason had to go to work, I took Lexi to Mimi and PawPaw's and the Lee's, me and Chip and Sarah all met for an early dinner at Manny's.  We enjoyed our dinner and then headed to the Stars game where Chip was honored as the "Hero of the game."  It was A-MAZING!  Chip was dressed in his formal Army attire and looked so handsome.  He was on the ice during the National Anthem and during the game the announcer narrated a quick biography of his service and achievements.  I don't have words to describe how magical that was to watch Chip being honored in front of a sell out crowd.  During and after the game, a TON of people stopped to shake his hand, thank him, and honor him.

Also during the game, the boys were able to ride the zamboni during an intermission.  They had a great time with that and seeing Jason in the TV truck.  It was a wonderful night.  Happy New Year!

kindergarten boxcar parade

Well, everyone was healthy until Lexi got the flu and I got pneumonia.  Needless to say, it's been a rough week...BUT, we are better again and for the most part back to normal.  Jason, Lexi and I all worked together on this and we think it turned out great!  All the boxcars were unique and wonderful!  The parade was wonderful...it should have been televised!!

daddy/daughter dance

I have some catching up to do on the blog, but I wanted to write tonight while my feelings and emotions are raw... About a month ago we received an email about the daddy/daughter dance tonight.  Jason attached the flyer and forwarded it to me saying, "I have to work."  I frowned and moved on.  I didn't think much about it until the other day.  I had an "a-ha" moment and asked Jason if we could ask his dad so Lexi wouldn't miss out on the ball.  Jason called Kevin the next day and I received a text from Jason right after saying, "My dad would be happy to take Lexi."  I was delighted and Lexi was on cloud 9 when I told her Paw Paw wanted to take her to the ball (side note...we didn't tell Lexi about the ball because we didn't think she was going to be able to attend since Jason was out of town). The next day Jason left work early and met us at the mall for a little ball dress shopping.  Lexi danced around the dressing room in about 8 diff...
